Body Transformation: The Three Challenges
We’re going to be launching something very exciting in the upcoming weeks. Our Body Transformation Challenge is not only going to change bodies, it’s going to change the general understanding of what fitness is (and how to get achieve it).
There are a thousand potential fitness solutions out there. Most of them are bunk. Instead of breaking down pseudo-scientific claims that fly in the face of biology or genetics, let’s just take the long view for a second.
If there’s a gap between where you are and where you want to be in terms of body composition, there’s a reason lurking in there somewhere. Contrary to what a lot of people believe, though, it’s not willpower or desire.
Most people simply over-shoot. They over-shoot in terms of three things: time, consistency or expectations.
Time
Unless you’re a professional athlete, a model or have somehow been given a reprieve from the responsibilities that most grown-ups face, time can be a limiting factor. There may be a huge difference between the amount of work you’re willing to take on in your and the amount of work you’ll be able to handle on an ongoing basis.
Short, intense projects can indeed be productive. However, they need to be treated as just that – short and intense. They’re not long-term solutions.
Consistency
Time may not be the only monkey wrench in the gears of consistency. Counterproductive training practices can overwork you, get you injured or take you off-course regardless of your intentions or work ethic.
Expectations
No program is going to work if you’re continually unhappy with the results you’re getting. Yet, often, these expectations come directly from you. Expecting to repair 10 years of lifestyle damage in 10 weeks is unrealistic. Expecting to look like someone (anyone) other than a fitter version of yourself is begging for disappointment. And believing that any method can work and that willpower is the only issue . . . well, we know that’s simply not true.
It is absolutely essential to take the time to figure out what’s realistic in terms of goals and timeline. From there, determining the best starting point and crafting a long-term process is essential. Lucky for you, we’re pretty good at all of those things.
If you’re ready to start treating fitness like a lifestyle, not an emergency fix, then stay tuned. Details on our Body Transformation Challenge are coming.
