All day today I’ve had a smile on my face because this morning, for the first time in a very long time (like 7 years!) I fit into my favourite all time dress.

Before coming to Bang, I would go on an annual new years diet. I might have even taken a gym class or gone to spinning 3 times a week or more, all in an effort to lose some weight. I found Bang Fitness quite by accident. After several years of karate, I was 53 and looking for a new martial art. I entered the building thinking it was the kickboxing club and knew instantly that I was in the right place. Two years later I am more convinced than ever. This is a great gym. There’s no spandex, no iPods, no poseurs. If you don’t want to work hard and do it the right way (which the owner, Geoff Girvitz ,will tell you is synonymous with the hard way) then Bang isn’t for you. But if you want to reach levels of accomplishment you thought were impossible for you, then come on in. As a middle-aged guy, I’m constantly amazed at how much I can lift and push, and the increases that seem to happen week by week. If you’d told me a couple of years ago, “Pete, we’re gonna have you deadlifting and loving it” I’d’ve said, “What are you, nuts?”  But it’s true. I am and I do.

The programs are great and carefully constructed to suit who you are and what you want to do. The trainers are careful, professional and aware. Two years of working out and not one injury – not even minor. That’s huge when you’re in your fifties.

The slogan is “Sympathy is not part of the program”. It’s a scary thought at first, until you realize you don’t want sympathy. You want results. And you get them…with a Bang.
